Post-Conference Sustainability Framework
Ensuring the conference generates a lasting regional impact beyond the immediate event — from declaration to implementation.
AMLPPC01-2027 is designed not just as a three-day event, but as the launching point for a sustained, multi-year regional action framework. The following post-conference mechanisms are proposed to ensure that every commitment made during the conference translates into measurable, accountable progress.
01
Publication of the Conference Communiqué
The Cameroon Marine Litter Declaration
A formal ‘Cameroon Marine Litter Declaration’ will be issued, summarizing the high-level commitments, MoUs, and policy recommendations agreed upon at AMLPPC01. This document will serve as a foundational advocacy tool for aligning national efforts with the Abidjan Convention and the UN Ocean Decade.
Key Outputs
Formal declaration summarizing conference outcomes
High-level commitments and signed MoUs
Policy recommendations for national and regional adoption
Distributed to Abidjan Convention Secretariat and UN bodies
02
Cameroon-to-Regional Implementation Toolkit
A Scalable Operational Blueprint
Rather than a static report, the conference will produce a standardized operational manual based on the successful pilot actions initiated during the event. This toolkit provides the ‘blueprint’ for other Gulf of Guinea nations to replicate Cameroon’s integrated approach.
Key Outputs
The 'Beach Cleanup-to-Data' Pipeline: scalable model for converting cleanups into standardized monitoring data
Mapping Plastic Pathways: protocols for identifying 'plastic highways' in river-to-sea ecosystems
Waste-to-Value Social Enterprises: financial and logistical templates for small-scale recycling ventures
Municipal-Regional Policy Alignment: step-by-step guide for local authorities to align with LBSA Protocol
03
Knowledge Management and Digital Hub
Democratizing Ocean Science
All research abstracts, innovation mock-ups, and the final Action Plan will be hosted on a centralized digital platform. This aligns with the UN Ocean Decade’s mission to democratize ocean science, ensuring that data and solutions are accessible to stakeholders who were not physically present.
Key Outputs
Digital repository of all conference abstracts and research
Innovation mock-ups and hackathon outputs
Final Cameroon Coastal Plastic Action Plan (2026–2030)
Accessible to all stakeholders globally, not just conference attendees
04
Accountability and Monitoring
Quarterly Progress Check-Ins
To move from ‘Talk to Action,’ a series of follow-up webinars will be scheduled at three-month intervals. These ‘Progress Check-ins’ allow lead actors and partners to report on the status of their MoUs, share challenges, and recalibrate strategies in real-time.
Key Outputs
Implementation Status: What has been achieved since the last cycle?
Barriers and Support: Technical or financial hurdles requiring intervention
Impact Reporting: Data contributions toward the next funding cycle and regional monitoring goals
Regional data collaboration on marine litter in the Gulf of Guinea
05
Regional Peer-to-Peer Learning
Case Study in Multi-Stakeholder Synergy
The conference outcomes will be presented to the Abidjan Convention Secretariat as a ‘Case Study in Multi-Stakeholder Synergy,’ promoting Cameroon as a regional leader in integrated marine litter management. Cameroon’s model will serve as a replicable framework for all 22 Gulf of Guinea member states.
Key Outputs
Formal case study submission to the Abidjan Convention Secretariat
Presentation of Cameroon model at regional marine governance forums
Bilateral knowledge-sharing agreements with other Gulf of Guinea nations
Cameroon positioned as a regional leader in integrated marine litter management
